“ Nature can be conquered if we can but to find her weak side ” said James Watt, the man whose steam engine invention, in 1776, gave a jumpstart to this race that eventually leads to ending the life (as we know it) on our planet. Eager as we are, it didn’t take us too long to find the Nature’s weak spot: the human greed . The systematic exploitation of this nature’s weakness has lead us to have 85 people controlling more than half of the entire world population’s wealth. Unfortunately, the trail of their fortune is stained by fossil fuel and CO2 and it is hard to imagine them stepping of the path that led them to create this immense fortune without a really, really, really good reason. One of the reasons could be the social pressure pushing the governments to adapt drastic measures that put an end on fossil fuel dependence and switch to green energy. Unfortunately, the way the system works today, it is hard to expect that the politicians who in a few years of being elected a...

Color blinded on Mars

Every time you ask for an extra plastic bag in the supermarket, have a doubt between paying a bit more for a sustainable instead of use&dispose product, take your car to go two blocks instead of walking or any other time you believe that it doesn’t matter and that maybe after all this climate change thing is “blown out of proportion”; you are one step closer to becoming color blinded on Mars. On the other hand is a disperse movement most closely related to the notion of GAIA principle. The one that proposes that organisms...

It takes a long time to get young, and it’s never too late

My training with Mio [1] continues. It’s such a privilege. Once again his infinitive nature flow guided me to another insight. It was some days ago when Marcus and him came to the house for a chat. At some point Mio shouted “Look at this!” and both Marcus and I turned to see it. He was poining into some kind of a giant bee that was lying on the floor wits its legs up to the air. “What’s it called?” I asked him, while forcing my neurons to come up with this simple question in my rudimentary Swedish. In a very calm voice, Mio answered something indistinctive so I had to ask Marcus to help me out with the translation. Hi s answer was simple, as life. “ It’s dead. It doesn’t have a name ”, he said. A sharp wood like bang penetrated deep inside my memory loving mind. “Of course they don’t!” I realized. His voice carried the sound of an apple falt on the ground. So much time I have wasted holding on to the names that have long gone. The time that I have wast...
